Message from the Chair
In October 2007, history was made. For the first time ever, the North Korea (DPRK) National TaeKwon-Do Demonstration Team traveled to the United States of America for a five-city tour. At each location, including Los Angeles, San Francisco, Cedar Rapids, Louisville, and Atlanta, thousands of spectators witnessed the world-renowned team as they demonstrated their mastery of the martial art of their homeland. The event was organized and sponsored by TaeKwonDo Times Magazine & Hwang Martial Arts.
The objective of the event was to help establish a peaceful relationship between the USA and North Korea through nongovernmental exchange. | | I am not a political person. I am just one TaeKwonDo person who came from South Korea and settled down in the U.S. to teach TaeKwonDo. It took 16 years to establish this exchange to help contribute to the peace and unification of the two countries of the U.S. and DPRK through TaeKwonDo.
| | During their visit, the North Korean national anthem was heard for the first time on U.S. soil. Not long after, the New York Philharmonic followed suit and visited North Korea for the first time in February 2008, playing the U.S. national anthem in North Korea.
With respect,
Grandmaster Woojin Jung Publisher TaeKwonDo Times | | | |
